Concrete Cost Calculator

Estimate your total material expenditure across multiple concrete project types. Plan your order volume, vendor rates, and batch fees before scheduling a delivery.

Project Parameters

Enter concrete volume and your supplier’s quoted prices.

Enter your volume and quoted unit price to estimate cost. Optional waste, delivery and supplier fees are zero when left blank. Load example fills illustrative values.

Project type labels the estimate; cost uses your entered volume and quoted price. No dimensions or structural design are evaluated.

YD³

Enter measured net volume before waste. If your volume already includes waste or supplier rounding, leave optional waste at 0%.

/YD³
Flat

Enter any quoted short-load or other supplier fee. Applied once to a nonzero order.

Ordering Advice:

Ask your supplier about batch increments, minimum billed volumes, and short-load fees. No minimum or batch rounding is applied automatically. If billing is based on a larger quantity, enter that billed volume and leave waste at 0%. Enter quoted fees above; taxes, labor, reinforcement, and unentered charges are excluded. All prices are USD.

How to use & worked cost example

Enter net volume before waste and a supplier price for the displayed unit. Add delivery and any quoted surcharge. If entering already buffered or billed volume, leave waste at 0%. For positive volume: total = volume × (1 + waste/100) × unit price + delivery + surcharge. Zero volume gives $0.

Switching U.S./Metric converts volume and quoted unit price for the same quantity; currency stays USD. Project type labels the estimate and does not determine dimensions or structural specifications.

Default: 6.5 yd³ × $145/yd³ + $75 delivery = $1,017.50. The equivalent 4.969607 m³ at the converted quote gives the same total. Optional example: 1.25 yd³ × 1.10 × $150/yd³ + $50 delivery + $25 surcharge = $281.25.

What affects your concrete costs

A supplier's base cubic yard price is only one part of the final invoice. Batch timing, site physical access, specialized admixtures, and environmental conditions directly shift what you owe at delivery.

Pre-pour check

Always request an itemized dispatch quote showing short-load cutoffs, fuel surcharges, and allowed truck unload times before finalizing your batch schedule.

When you phone a local batch plant, ready-mix dispatchers quote base mix by the cubic yard, usually based on standard 3,000 PSI concrete within a normal service radius. However, actual job conditions frequently require specialized adaptations. Transit distance from the facility determines delivery minimums and fuel surcharges. High-early strength specifications, custom aggregate sizing, or added fiber mesh raise batch raw-material costs.

Seasonal weather introduces supplementary batching requirements—such as heated water during freezing conditions or chemical retarders in scorching summer humidity. Finally, site accessibility remains the largest secondary expense: if a 66,000-pound mixer cannot direct-chute concrete right into your excavated forms, you will need to coordinate a concrete pump truck or power buggies to convey the mix safely.

01

Batch plant transit & haul distance

Ready-mix trucks must unload within roughly 90 minutes of batching before hydration compromises workability. Plants charge standard mileage tiers, plus standby demurrage fees if pouring exceeds allocated unload windows.

Mileage surcharge & time-on-site fees
02

Mix design & structural additives

A standard 3,000 PSI residential patio mix costs less than a 4,000+ PSI driveway pour. Specifying synthetic microfiber, pea gravel pumping blends, or water-reducing plasticizers adds $8 to $18 per cubic yard.

03

Seasonal & weather adjustments

Pouring in near-freezing temps requires hot-water batching and calcium chloride accelerators to safeguard early strength. Extreme summer heat requires chemical retarders to delay setting while screeding.

04

Chute reach vs. pump truck access

Direct gravity chute delivery is included in basic delivery. If your site has narrow side yards, soft lawns, or steep slopes where a 30-ton mixer cannot back up within 12 feet, a line or boom pump rental is required.
